Now in its second year, Malvern Prep’s Global Student Exchange Program is successfully expanding, as the school welcomed four exchange students from Panama this week, while four Malvern students are currently studying in Spain.

The students from Colegio San Agustin in Panama will study at Malvern for four weeks. The students are: Rodrigo De Paredes, hosted by Ian McLarney and his family, Franco Bertello, hosted by Peter Schiavone and his family, Raul Meana Martinez, hosted by Brian McDonough and his family, and Giordano Benitez Torres, hosted by Nick Anderson and his family.

Studying in Spain this month from Malvern are J.J.Moser, Andrew Molloy, Julian Venonsky and Steve Borish. This past summer, Borish, McLarney, McDonough and Ben Lodi visited Colegio San Agustin in Panama for three weeks.

While at Malvern, the exchange students are introduced to American culture with sight-seeing trips to New York, Washington and Philadelphia, sporting events and other activities. The schools in Panama and Spain share Malvern’s Augustinian heritage and values, and also harbor the same vision of promoting global learning.

“Thanks to the generosity and hospitality of the Malvern host families, we are able to put this program together,” said Global Exchange Coordinator and Malvern teacher Lida Rosle. “Our next step is to expand the program to other schools and countries. We are very excited about the success of our program so far!”

Malvern’s first foreign student exchange program began last January, as the school hosted six students from Panama and Spain.
